„abode where lost bodies roam each searching for its lost one”.

The Beckettian world of Le Dépeupleur, which arises during reading, is the result of another subversive idea. It is a place precisely described and subjected to strict rules, from which the capricious creator makes insignificant exceptions. Inside a flat cylinder, fifty meters in circumference, and sixteen metres high, for a harmonious proportion. One body per square meter, which makes about two hundred bodies in total. Their stay perhaps is just about to end. From time immemorial it has been rumour – or, more properly: a conviction – that the exit does exist.

Le Dépeupleur is a VR experience in which participants can feel emanation of the presence of bodies in the form of avatars, beings with human shapes and imperfect presence, established for the needs of our experience. Apart from our experience, the bodies encountered in Le Dépeupleur  do not seem to exist, just like in the text. An avatar has no life of its own, it must be inhabited by a person who animates it or projects his/her life upon it. Disappearance, although it is disappearance of humanity, does not mean disappearance of people.
