LONG-PLAYED OBJECTS - SZCZECIN ART ENSEMBLE (Poland)

Szczecin Art Ensemble is a group of artists from Szczecin, referring to the tradition of the famous Art Ensemble of Chicago – an avant-garde jazz band that was formed in the late 1960s and benefiting from all sources of music, from free jazz to contemporary music, still arousing great interest among music fans. The project Szczecin Art Ensemble is based on similar principles. From the beginning, its founders have been focused on creative composition, improvisation and creative activity, on sharing experiences and energy that comes from discovering the beautiful and the valuable. In the season 2012/2013 they organized a series of concerts in Szczecin, while currently they work on the release of the album. Long-played Objects this type of music installation combined with a concert. Musical improvisation and pieces of the group were recorded, and then “locked” in objects, devices that were once unreachable, cult objects of dreams and miracles of technology, and today, when they lost their function, have been neglected, degraded to the rank of trinkets. Music, flowing from their interior, itself being a “gasped moment”, moves these objects into another dimension, and gives them a second chance. At the same time, each of these items “interprets” in a different way the music coming from the inside, and builds a different context, highlighting its unique character.

The items will be presented at the vernissage “Long-played Objects” and, along with the audience, they will take part in a concert of the Szczecin Art Ensemble. After the concert they will be sold by auction.
